Helping good people achieve great design.

Born and raised in Cape Cod. Lived and learned in Chicago. Growing and working in Austin.

I’m a Creative Director and Designer with a lifelong passion for design. My strong organizational and people skills enable me to create engaging experiences that leave a lasting impact. I believe in a customer-centric approach and utilize my expertise in UX, UI, and design strategy to consistently exceed expectations and deliver memorable user experiences.

Each of my roles has built upon the last. I led the creative team at a rapidly growing hotel company, helping it expand from 7 to 580 units. I’ve managed skilled product designers while collaborating with world-class brands and startups to bring innovative ideas to life. Before leaving the corporate world to raise my daughter, I co-led the design of a groundbreaking PropTech app that simplifies the home-buying process.

In addition to my design work, I’m proud to own Willinglee, a gift box shop that supports small businesses and artisans in the US. Our gifts, sustainably boxed and wrapped with hand-painted paper, reflect our commitment to supporting fellow artists and giving back to our community.

I am driven by a desire to deliver memorable user experiences, support local businesses, and create meaningful, lasting connections through design.

If you consider yourself a good person in need of great design, I’d love to connect :)

Partner with a designer who lives beyond the screen.
2008

Graduating with a Bachelor of Fine Arts from The School of the Art Institute of Chicago (SAIC) provided me with a robust foundation in conceptual thinking. The program encouraged me to explore the underlying motivations behind my creative work, fostering a deeper understanding of my artistic practice and purpose.

Continued my work in fiber and silk-screening, funding my passion through tips earned while waitressing. Nothing humbled me more than the occasional guest walking out on their bill.

Moved to Austin in pursuit of warmer weather and a creative community. When I struggled to find an art position, I embraced a new path by teaching preschoolers at a locally-owned Reggio Emilia school.

After re-entering the service industry to refocus on my art, I suffered a tragic fall that severely injured my dominant hand, forcing me to reevaluate my life’s direction. In response, I wrote, illustrated, and self-published a coffee table book titled "Small Pleasures" as a creative outlet to help combat my depression.

I reconnected with a former student’s parent who had co-founded a boutique hotel startup. As the leader of The Guild's design team, I faced the challenge of not only integrating design principles into the brand but also ensuring a smooth and engaging experience for guests. With my team beside me, I had the responsibility of driving the design strategy and incorporating it into every aspect of the brand's identity. The Guild was my teacher, highlighting both my passion and the realities of burnout. I invested everything I had into the company, but through that journey, I learned invaluable business lessons and gained insights that shaped my path forward. Ultimately, I wouldn’t have discovered my true direction without this transformative experience.

4 months after vowing to share my life with my best friend, my entire team at The Guild was let go as a result of the pandemic. My husband and I started our own business focused on raising fellow artists up, and I joined webuild as a Product Designer. As I grew into the Design Manager position, the following 4 years were filled with small business highs and lows, for both companies.

To explore Alex's heritage, my husband and I embarked on a journey across four beautiful islands of Greece. We found our footing on Koufonisia, soaked in the views of Santorini, embraced the leisurely pace of Folegandros, and faced our fear of heights on Milos. This trip not only deepened our understanding of ourselves and each other but also underscored the invaluable truth that life holds far more meaning beyond work.

2024

webuild shut its doors and I stayed on with two of our clients, PorchPass and Braustin. As the Creative Director, I played a pivotal role in shaping and guiding the brand's creative vision and product designs, focusing on innovative and sustainable solutions in the manufactured housing industry. I led a small team of designers and contractors, ensuring that all designs aligned with the company’s mission to enhance the home-buying experience.

Now seeking fresh clients! If you’re a good person in need of great design, let’s connect.

Drawing on everything I’ve learned over the past decade, I’m committed to working differently:
I’m dedicated to staying current with the latest design trends and best practices, enhancing my skills through courses like Memorisely and Framer.

Additionally, I’m reigniting hobbies that I had to set aside during the corporate phase of my career. I'm finding joy in writing, diving into books, and actively engaging with my community. Family will always come first for me; if that doesn’t resonate with you, we may not be the best match. However, if you're eager to collaborate with someone who is passionate about bettering and beautifying the world for future generations, I’d love to chat.
